Ian visits Niue and loves it!

Ian was recently lucky enough to visit Niue on a site inspection to experience the stunning “Rock of Polynesia”. After an overnight stop in Auckland (where we’re assured they had a choice time), they landed in paradise. It’s an island with no traffic lights, no crime and delightfully cheap duty free. Being sure to enjoy the novelty of leaving the keys in the car, the group wasted no time exploring all the different accommodation options from the lush Matavai Resort, to brand new motels and lovely self-catering cottages.

The lovely Krystle and Shannon from Buccaneer Adventures were the group’s diving hosts for the week, and ran an exceptionally professional operation. Highlights of the week were a dive into the snake cave and diving in seemingly unlimited visibility.

Niue isn’t just for the intrepid divers, it’s also perfect for taking the family along. There is so much to do that you can’t get bored. There’s scuba diving of course, but Shannon’s also a freediving champion and can run courses for people who are interested in learning or improving freediving skills. You can go on a boat trip to snorkel with dolphins or humpback whales between July and October, you can go sport fishing, and if you have an aquaphobic family member then you can also do mountain biking on sealed roads around the island, caving in some amazing places and trips to see the local flora and fauna.

Thanks to all their hosts for the week!
