ABOVE THE WATER

Lembeh, an island off the north coast of Sulawesi, is only 25kms long and 2kg wide! Scuba Diving is the main activities held on Lembeh. To get to Lembeh is only a 15 minute boat ride from the mainland.

BELOW THE WATER

Lembeh Strait is the ultimate destination for the macro enthusiast and photographer. If you’ve ever been tempted to try your hand at underwater photography, this is the perfect destination. At Lembeh, most of the diving is “muck diving”, which means the site itself isn’t pretty (most likely black sand and the odd nappy-fish), but the critters you will find are unbelievable. Not all the sites are muck, with several coral, white sand, pinnacle and wreck dives, and you can do day trips to Bangka, the ocean side of Lembeh, or Buyat further south if you want to do some gorgeous coral reef diving. There is a lot of diversity here, and often you can tell your guide what you want to see and they will find it for you. The most prized finds are harlequin shrimp, hairy frogfish, tiger shrimp, flamboyant cuttlefish, mimic octopus, wonderpus and all manner of nudibranchs. A night dive here is particularly amazing, with leopard slugs, bobbit worms, mandarin fish and all kinds of crustaceans coming out.

A visit to the Tangkoko National Park is a must, where you can see black macaques, bats, hornbills, the elusive cuscus and best of all, the tarsius monkey which is the smallest in the world at 10cm. These little monkeys come out at dusk and dart around their trees.
