MV Chertan
The MV Chertan gives divers visiting Papua New Guinea that chance to see the countries best diving sites from the comfort of a luxury liveaboard. The boat itself has been in Milne Bay for over 16 years and was purpose built for divers. The owner of the Chertan, Rob Moore has over 30 years of diving experience in Milne Bay and you can therefore rest assured of both incredible dive sites and safety whilst in the area.
There are a multitude of dive sites that make up the Chertan’s itinerary, including plunging drop-offs, coral encrusted walls, pristine coral gardens and rich coral mounds. Upon each, the marine life is diverse with both fantastic muck diving and incredible pelagic experiences.

MV Chertan
The boat offers unlimited diving each day! The MV Chertan has a variety of equipment available to be hired for the diving throughout the trip however they prefer that divers bring their own gear. With a maximum or 10 divers on the boat at one time, you are ensured personal experience with a dive guide who will cater the dive to your preferences.

DIVING
The landscape off Milne Bay is diverse with a multitude of dive sites avail, particularly when diving from a liveaboard! Imagine witnessing plunging coral drop-offs, immense volcanic mountains, skull caves and thermal lakes, all within a few hours of scenic sailing from one another. Some dive sites around Milne Bay include Tania’s Reef, Cobb’s Cliff, Wahoo Point, Cherie’s Reef, Observation Point, Sponge Heaven, Little China, Pelagic Point and more. See a small sample below:

MV Chertan – Weedy Scorpionfish
Jason’s Reef – This is only a little coral mount but it holds a great amount of marine life. Located in 45 metres of water this coral encrusted habitat is home to nudibranchs, rhinopious (weedy scorpion fish) and a number of macro life. Re-adjust your eyes and witness large schools of fusiliers and banner fish guarding the mound as well as passing pelagics.
