DIVING

Uepi Island Resort - Wreck Diving

Uepi Island Resort – Wreck Diving

Diving from Uepi Island is year round with temperatures staying around 29 degrees throughout the year and visibility ranging from 20 – 30 metres. The underwater landscape surrounding the island is unsurpassed and offers all sorts of sites including swim-throughs, small caves trenches, coral gardens, plunging walls and coral encrusted mounds. One side of Uepi drops off into a 2000m channel. This meets a trench resulting in diverse marine life. Simply jump off the entrance jetty and you will find sharks cruising by! Expect to see just about anything in the waters such as manta rays, sharks, whales, schooling pelagic fish, macro life and even bioluminescence! See below for a small sample of some of the dive sites:

Deku Dekuru

This site is 25 minutes away from the island but well worth the trip. The dive involves a chain of cav systems in which you will need an experienced guide to simply find some of their entrances! Once inside ‘Hidden Cave’ you will twist and turn your way through. Opposingly, ‘Open Cave’ is a large canyon in which you can look up and see the lush green forest growing above your dive!

The Elbow

This site is just off the island and is a wall coated with gorgonian fans and incredible brightly coloured corals. This site gives guests the best chance to see pelagics including grey whaler sharks, schools of trevally, tuna, kingfish and barracuda, white tip reef sharks, spotted eagle rays, turtles and even hammerhead sharks!
