Dive the wreck diving capital of the world — 8 days and 16 boat dives among the legendary WWII shipwrecks of Truk Lagoon
Truk Lagoon in Micronesia is widely regarded as the wreck diving capital of the world. The sunken fleet of Japanese warships, cargo vessels and aircraft from WWII has transformed into an extraordinary artificial reef — encrusted in coral and alive with marine life. With 16 boat dives across 8 dive days, this is a bucket-list trip for any serious wreck diver.
Experience Level: Intermediate/Advanced (Comfortable in current; Advanced Open Water or equivalent recommended)
Expedition Type: Land based, 16 dives per diver
Truk Lagoon is home to over 60 sunken Japanese warships, freighters and aircraft from WWII's Operation Hailstone — all lying at recreational dive depths and smothered in decades of coral growth.
From cargo holds still packed with tanks, trucks and torpedoes to cockpits of Zero fighter planes resting on the sandy bottom, every dive in Truk is a journey back in time.
Decades of undisturbed growth have transformed these wrecks into extraordinary artificial reefs. Lionfish hover in doorways, enormous schools of barracuda circle masts, and soft corals in every colour blanket the decks.
