Travel insurance for your dive holiday
If something goes wrong on your dive holiday – a medical issue, a missed connection, lost bags or a dive incident – you want to know you’re covered. Getting sick or injured overseas can be extremely expensive, and many dive operators (especially liveaboards) require travel insurance before you board. If you can’t afford the insurance, you really can’t afford the trip.
Travel insurance usually starts covering you from the moment the policy is issued, protecting both you and the payments you’ve made towards your trip.
Insurance options for divers
We recommend choosing a policy that covers:
Overseas medical expenses and emergency evacuation
Scuba diving (including any depth or certification limits)
Trip cancellation and delays
Lost, stolen or delayed luggage
Below are two options commonly used by our divers.
NIB travel insurance
NIB offers travel insurance that can cover medical expenses, cancellations, delays and more, so a minor mishap doesn’t turn into a major problem when you’re a long way from home.
With NIB and Allways Dive Expeditions:
We can arrange a free NIB quote tailored to your trip
Your policy is issued directly by NIB
You deal with NIB for any claims or policy changes
If you purchase NIB insurance through us, we can assist with general claim support (e.g. claim letters, confirmation of payments and travel arrangements)
DAN – Divers Alert Network
DAN specializes in cover for diving-related incidents and has been supporting divers worldwide for more than 30 years.
DAN provides:
DAN Membership – worldwide emergency evacuation cover
DAN Dive Injury Insurance – cover for treatment costs associated with a covered diving incident
DAN policies must be arranged directly with DAN. Please read the DAN Dive Injury Insurance Product Disclosure Statement before you purchase to make sure the cover suits your needs.
Using your own or credit card insurance
You are welcome to organize your own insurance or rely on eligible credit card cover, provided it meets the requirements of your airline, resort or liveaboard.
Allways Dive Expeditions can provide general claim letters (e.g. payment confirmations, itineraries). For assistance beyond general claim letters with policies not arranged through us, we reserve the right to charge an administration fee for helping with insurance claims.
Before you travel
Arrange your insurance as soon as you pay your deposit, so you’re covered if you need to cancel before departure
Check that your policy explicitly covers scuba diving and any planned activities
Some liveaboards and resorts will require proof of insurance; if this applies to your booking, we’ll let you know during the quoting and confirmation process
