The Bligh Water is one of those rare spots where you realize why Fiji is the "Soft Coral Capital of the World" the second you drop down a mooring line. It’s essentially a high-energy funnel between the two main islands that forces nutrient-rich deep water upward, and when that current hits a pinnacle like Mellow Yellow or Mount Mutiny, the reef literally "wakes up." You’ll see fields of Dendronephthya soft corals that stay slumped and grey when the water is still, but once the tide moves, they inflate into these neon forests of yellow, pink, and purple. It’s high-voltage diving and you’re often hooking into the limestone at the edge of a wall, watching "rainstorms" of orange anthias and fusiliers swarm so thick they block the sun, while grey reef sharks and hammerheads just hang effortlessly in the blue.
