Savai’i

ABOVE THE WATER

Savai’i is Samoa’s larger, yet less developed island. It offers some of the greenest landscapes on the planet, with rainforest that looks as though it never ends. To get to Savai’i, you must catch a ferry from Upolu. You will arrive in the small town of Salelologa and from here; most resorts are within an hour drive. One of the islands most sought after attractions is ‘Swimming with Turtles’. The attraction is run by a local family on Savai’i. Hop into a pond and find yourself surrounded by a myriad of sea turtles all wanting to say hello. It is an incredible experience that etches itself into your memory forever.

UNDER THE WATER

Jump into the tropical waters of Savai’i and you will find a fantastic array of soft and hard corals, canyons, swim-throughs, marine life and even a wreck! The ‘Juno’ wreck is a quick boat ride away from the shore. The wreck was a sailing ship that sunk in Lalapa bay in 1881. The wreck has since become a fantastic artificial reef home to a multitude of marine life; from parrot fish, yellow snapper and big-eyes to turtles and macro critters.
