ABOUT TAWALI DIVE
Tawali Dive is the dive operator run by Tawali Resort. The diving surrounding the island is sought after worldwide due to the marine diversity and the convenience! Many of the sites are within minutes of the resort. The dive guides at the resort are very professional and particularly terrific at finding the small stuff. Form the moment you step off the boat they will collect your personal dive gear and you won’t see it unless you’re wearing it until the end of your trip, at which point it will be washed, dried and ready to go!
Dive sites so good you’ll want to visit multiple times!
The diving off Tawali is renowned for its fabulous muck diving, however there a myriad of underwater landscapes that have something for every type of diver. Find sandy bottoms alive with rhinopias, pygmy seahorses, mimic octopus and more, each of which, if not found by you, will be shown to you in your potentially 2 hour (due to the depth) long dive! The house reef out the front of the resort is another site raved about, easily accessible (just outside your door) where you will find a 60 metre drop off filled with marine life including the very cute mandarin fish. Swim out a little further and find schooling pelagics, rays and more, depending on which site you choose to visit. Be sure to book enough nights so that you don’t miss out on any sites! A small sample of the dive sites below:
An incredible drift dive on which you will find yourself floating along a slanted reef downward through large gorgonian fans, and long grass corals alongside schooling fish and incredible macro life.
A steep wall that drops down to over 200 metres that is habitually visited by a multitude of pelagics. See hammerhead sharks, manta rays, whale sharks, minke whales and on two occasions, orcas! After awhile, adjust your vision and look up close at the variety of macro life and anemones along the wall, hiding amongst the brightly coloured corals and elephant ear sponges.
There are a number of boats custom built for divers and snorkelers in Tawali. There are 2 small boats that hold 6 divers max, one of which has a canopy on offer. There is also a larger boat for groups that can hold around 18 divers and has a toilet, sun coverage, gear storage and nitrox from the boat.
