Tipping is a common practice across California and should be made to waitresses, taxi drivers, bartenders, tour guides, food delivery people and so on. As a general rule of thumb, the tip should be calculated as a percentage of your total bill as follows: 10% usually means you aren’t totally happy, 15% usually means all was acceptable, 20% for great service. Tipping varies across the state and depends on the situation and type of service.
